NEW PRODUCT: Wayside Battery Substation

All transit systems are subject to the basic principles of Ohm’s law: as current flows, voltage drops associated with conductor size and distance. IMPulse NC has developed a program to address this issue. IMPulse NC has the patent on the use of alternative energy sources to alleviate voltage droop (or sag) in areas susceptible to low voltage conditions. Uncorrected, this sag impacts transit performance: Poor Train Performance; Reduced Load (fewer trains); Increased Headways (poor acceleration & speed). IMPulse NC has begun a demonstration project on its wayside Battery Substation that will interface with an Overhead Contact System and correct these deficiencies.

    Bus Duct

For high current interconnections between Substation components, rely on IMPulse NC to provide quality metal enclosed bus duct to meet your application. When your substation layout will not allow close coupled components, the utilization of metal enclosed bus duct can be the solution for reliably connecting the output from the traction transformer (3 or 6 phase) to the rectification equipment and the DC output and negative return to the DC Switchgear.

    Wayside Disconnect Switch

IMPulse NC can offer solutions to meet wayside disconnecting means. Designed for up to 10000A, 1500VDC applications, wayside disconnect switches for pad mounting near substations or track locations can be provided as individual switches or as bussed lineups for feeders and bypass configurations. Manual operation is standard with interlocking to track feeders, etc. Custom arrangements are available to meet your specific system requirements.

Motor Operated Load Break Disconnect Switch

IMPulse NC now offers a motor operated load break disconnect switch for contact wire line switching applications. Designed for 2000A, up to 1500VDC application, the load break disconnect switch can be wall or pole mounted depending on the system design. Control voltage of 125VDC (remotely provided) allows for local or remote operation of the motor driven, spring charged mechanism, along with remote indication of position and status.
